Hello Friends! Getting to Know Me

A Q&A with the author of Passports & Prosecco

Answering a few frequently asked questions about me the blogger behind P&P.

Q: How did Passports & Prosecco come to be?

I came up with the idea for P&P back in 2020 during the pandemic lockdowns. Not being able to travel and explore had me feeling antsy so I thought a blog would be a fun outlet. But life and work got in the way and I never actually launched it. Fast forward to 2023 and an unexpected layoff from my corporate job, and it felt like the right time to really get it going.

Toasting Life’s Beautiful Moments

Q: What is the meaning behind the blog name “Passports & Prosecco”?

I believe each of us are on our own unique journey through life and that journey should be celebrated so the name Passports & Prosecco is meant to reflect the idea of celebrating the journey of life. It also happens to be literally two of my favorite things travel and wine (especially sparkling wine).

Q: What is your “day job”?

I’ve had a winding road of a corporate career but today I am a B2B marketing executive with a passion for growing high performing teams.

Q: Where is home?

My husband, Michael, and I live in a great little town in central New Jersey – Metuchen. But I am originally from Staten Island, NY and have also lived in Morristown, NJ, Manhattan, and Boston, MA.

Q: Favorite thing to do when you don’t have weekend plans?

I love to try new restaurants, and both Michael and I are pretty adventurous eaters, so I love to just see what restaurants have reservations on Open Table or Yelp for that night and we just roll the dice and try some place new. This approach has resulted in some amazing meals (and the occasional one that we aren’t rushing back to).

Q: Do you have a favorite wine?

While I believe you should drink what you like, I personally tend to go with a wine selection based on season (reds in winter and fall and whites/rose in spring and summer), my meal (light versus heavy), and just my mood. But my go-to selections: Pinot Noir (especially if its from Oregon), Prosecco (of course!), or an Italian Blend.

Q: Favorite vacation spot that you have already been to?

I have to say Italy because it is where we went on our honeymoon and it was glorious! But my top three also includes the Hamptons and Napa Valley.

Q: What’s on your travel bucket list?

My bucket list of travel destinations keeps getting longer and longer but includes lots of international locals – European river cruise, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, the Nordics. There are also many places in the US that I still want to get to especially in the mid-west. It would probably be easier to name the places that aren’t on my list!

Q: If money wasn’t an issue, what would be your dream occupation?

We would love to own our own vineyard and winery. Our hobby is to make our own wine and we love it but it would be amazing to actually be able to do that as a career.

Q: How do you deal with the highs and lows of life?

I like to keep a positive outlook and believe that just about everything that happens to us specifically happens for a reason. We may not know the lesson or reason right away but at some point any experience was preparing you for something else.
